Congratulations to Mina Robertson on thirty-five years of dedicated service as a member of the Board of Directors for Eagle Valley Bank! Recognition that is well deserved, Mina!
Congratulations also go out to Alice Curry who was chosen as the Valentine’s Day Queen at her residence at the Scott County Nursing Center. Alice is also president of the Resident Counsel.
Don’t forget a “Blessings Box” is on the alley side of the North Pike District Library and is available to anyone, 24/7, to take what is needed or give what can be given.
A new community Bible study will begin March 10, at 6 p.m. at the Griggsville United Methodist Church. The study will meet weekly through May 26 in the Good Shepard Hall and is open to all who would like to grow in faith and understanding. Pre-K screenings for the Griggsville-Perry School District will be held March 11th from 9am-3pm at the Griggsville building. This screening is for children two years/eight months to five years old (not eligible for kindergarten in the fall). Contact Mandy Daniels at 217-833-2352 with questions or to schedule a screening.
The Perry United Methodist Church invites everyone in the community to join them for a potluck dinner on March 11th, from 6pm to 8pm. This event is open to all, so bring your favorite dish to share and enjoy a wonderful evening of food, fellowship, and fun. Drinks will be provided. This is a great opportunity to connect with neighbors and make new friends in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. We look forward to seeing you there!
PACE will be having a fish fry fundraiser on March 13th from 5 pm-8 pm in the Perry United Methodist Church basement (106 E. Southy St., Perry). The menu will include catfish fritters, Swai fish, potato chips, baked beans, cole slaw, sloppy joes, bread, dessert and drink all for a free will donation. Carry-outs will be available.
The Griggsville City Cemetery clean-up day will be March 14th starting at 10am. This event usually takes two hours. All flowers, containers, and any decorations must be removed before that date, or they will be disposed of. Shepard hooks may remain. New decorations may be placed after that date and should be within twelve inches of the base, or they will be moved. Absolutely no glass, or it will be thrown away. The Cemetery Committee welcomes and appreciates all volunteers!
The first Apple Festival planning meeting for the 2026 festival is scheduled for March 16th at 6pm at Griggsville City Hall. There are plenty of seats at the planning table for anyone wanting to be a part of this volunteer committee.
Daylight Saving Time starts this Sunday at 2am when we spring forward one hour. As Benjamin Franklin once said, “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”
