“It’s a Great Week to be a Warrior” a packed gym with a whole lot of excited cheers and a lot of nail biting. But as the buzzer sounded at the end of the game of the Calhoun Warriors vs. Pawnee Indians saw the Calhoun Warriors Class 1A Regional Champions. These guys are great to watch and we even got to see that awesome Lane Eilerman dunk, whether you were packed in the gym at the Carrollton high school or were in front of the TV the atmosphere was electric. I personally have the privilege along with my coworker Sheri of cooking for these boys on most game days at Straight Home some game days the Barefoot does their meals and I’m sure Bud and Cathy would probably tell you the same thing that I do. These guys are a class act all the way through and definitely good role models for your children to look up to.
St. Francis of Assisi and Blessed Trinity students made their first communion and confirmation in Springfield at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful service.
St. Anslem’s held a successful game day. Lots of fun, delicious chicken and dumplings and dessert. Thank you all that came out to show your support to help keep St. Anslem’s open.
Congratulations to Stephen and Britney Hayn who effective March 1 took over as new owners Calhoun Auto. I know they will do wonderful. Also best wishes to Ed Wickenhauser as he moves on to a new chapter after owning and operating Calhoun Auto for 25 years.
Sympathy to the family of Mick Blumenberg who passed away last week. Mick always had a cute grin, that left you wondering what he was up to, but that’s because he was always coming up with something witty to tell you. He enjoyed going to the coffee shop in the morning and visiting everyone. Mick was all about his family, his wife, Zel, and his children. I believe his greatest joy was his grandchildren. He always had a smile on his face anytime he was talking about them and I know he enjoyed every moment spent with them. Please keep his family in your prayers and continue prayers for Billie Jo Eickmeyer , Aiden Snodgrass, Mary Ann Gress, Kiera Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Sue Baze, Kurt Roth, Connor Gilman, Christie Baalman, Liz Schliecher, Kathryn Chapman, Luanne Baalman, Joyce Blumenberg, Sue Aderton, Diane Rose, Lisa Waters and our troops.
