I hope everyone is enjoying this weather as much as I am. I am very ready for spring, but I’m not a winter person.
However, that being said, I have to start my column by reminding everyone we are under a “Burn Ban!” Please do not burn.

Last Wednesday evening, I made the trip to Nokomis for sectional basketball play. The outcome of the game was not the one we would’ve hoped for but instead of focusing on that I’m gonna share this . I’ve been following this team all season for the newspaper and because I’m a Calhoun warrior fan and my granddaughter is a cheerleader. This season has been an amazing season with lots of excitement on the edge of our seats not knowing which way the score would end. We had a fan section like no other. We have a group of young fans who can’t wait for their term to be on the court. They definitely keep us entertained as we never know what cheer they’re gonna be chanting. We’ve been wowed by amazing cheerleaders with awesome stunts and builds. We wait each week to see what they’re gonna show us. There’s a little guy who wears the number one jersey and his name is Court. He handles the job of getting the rebound to the boys when they are taking practice shots. He’s also patiently waiting his turn.
These boys play as a team they get them all to each other and they work together. You never know each week which player is going to shine because they all do. If you’re at the game and you get to see a Lane Eilerman dunk, the Warrior fans go wild, and even the visiting crowd has some pretty amazed faces, as I’ve been lucky to capture it in pictures. The Warriors finished this season with a record-breaking 27 wins. But so much more was earned than those wins show. It has been my pleasure to follow them all year and I couldn’t be prouder to be a Warrior fan. Also best wishes to the Senior ball players and cheerleaders on their next chapter. Now I’ll move onto covering baseball , softball and track and I’m sure that’ll keep me busy.
