Youth League Basketball is in full swing at North Greene having started last week. For four more Saturdays, every morning, youth from first through fourth grade gather in the Roodhouse gyms to learn the fundamentals of basketball and just generally have a good time. The younger kids play in the all-purpose room and the older kids play in the regular gym so parents and grandparents are kept busy going from gym to gym watching their little ones play in multiple games from 8 a.m. till after noon.

Lorelai Burton tries to fend off Leo Coultas for the ball. First thing you are probably thinking is – why is a boy playing on the girls team? Easy answer for that – because they didn’t have enough girls to make up the team and little Leo, who isn’t even old enough to play on a regular team yet, stepped up and volunteered to play on the team with his sister, Lucy. The little dude did a great job of holding his old against the much older gals too. (Carmen Ensinger/River County News)
