As the weather warms up and you’re spending more time outdoors, remember that ticks aren’t picky about where they bite. The Illinois Department of Public Health reminds you of some simple precautions to reduce your risk of illnesses like Lyme disease and alpha-gal syndrome. 1) Use insect repellent with DEET or picaridin. 2) Wear light-colored clothing and tuck pants into socks. 3) Walk in the center of trails and avoid tall grass. 4) Check yourself, your kids, and pets for ticks daily. 5) Shower after spending time outdoors. Contact your doctor if you develop unexplained illness after a tick bite.

As you celebrate Easter this weekend, be sure to remember it is not about the bunny or the eggs. Easter is a reminder that Jesus is alive, and because He lives, we have hope, new life and victory. No matter what you’ve been through, there’s always a new beginning in Him. His love is stronger than death, and His power brings us freedom.
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” Matthew 28:5-6
Don’t spend your weekend looking for candy-filled eggs. Look for Jesus. Easter blessings to you and yours.
