Congratulations to GP senior Ellorie Lambeth on her selection as the Brad Lipcaman Country Financial Student-Athlete of the Month for April! Ellorie is the daughter of Sawyer and Sam Zaerr. She has played softball for three years and serves as a Co-Captain of the team this year. She is a natural leader on the team. Ellorie is described as “a driven student who doesn’t settle for mediocrity. She is tough and speaks her mind, but also has a gentle compassionate side, especially when caring for her younger siblings.” Ellorie is currently enrolled in the CNA program through John Wood Community College and works part-time at a nursing home. After graduation, she plans to attend JWCC and work towards earning her RN. Great work, Ellorie, and best wishes as you finish out your high school career!
The hazardous household materials collection event is scheduled for this Saturday (4/11) from 8am-3pm at the Western Illinois Fairgrounds (516 South Oak Street). It is open to residential households and is designed to safely handle materials that could be harmful if improperly disposed of. Accepted items include latex- and oil-based paints, paint thinners, used motor oil, pesticides, cleaning chemicals, batteries, antifreeze, and fluorescent bulbs. Residents are asked to bring materials in spill-proof containers and secure them away from passengers. There will be volunteers at the site to handle unloading.
Kindergarten Roundup for the Griggsville-Perry School District will be April 20th at 6pm in the Griggsville gymnasium. Parents and students may come and meet the teachers and learn about kindergarten expectations. Kindergarten students will need: copy of certified birth certificate; copy of social security card; proof of immunizations; current physical; and proof of dental and eye exams. Students must be five years-old by September 1, 2026 to be eligible for enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year.
Perry Town Cleanup Day will be on April 24th. The City of Griggsville will hold Townwide Cleanup Days on April 29th, 30th and May 1st. Be sure to take advantage of these days and get your properties shaped up for summer!

Temperatures are trending upwards for the rest of the week, but so is the chance of rain. The next few days may be a good time to stay in and clean out a closet or two as the rain falls outside. There’s always spring cleaning to do! Enjoy the rest of your week!
