Calhoun County Sheriff arrests Godfrey man for predatory criminal sexual assault

TOMMY R. THOMPSON
On December 30th 2025, Sheriff Zach Hardin arrested Tommy R. Thompson, aged 38 of Godfrey, Illinois; for the following offense:
■ Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault – Victim Under 13-Years-Old (Class X Felony)
This investigation began on December 18th 2025, when the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a Child Sexual Assault, which was alleged to have occurred in rural Calhoun County, Illinois.
During this investigation, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the United Child Advocacy Network; to assist in forensic child interviews; in addition to the Illinois Department of Child & Family Services (DCFS) in the continued investigation.
Additionally, during the course of this investigation, Sheriff Hardin executed multiple court-authorized search warrants to attempt to gather additional information.
Subsequent to that investigation; on December 29th 2026, the Calhoun County State’s Attorney’s Office issued a felony Warrant of Arrest for Thompson, for the aforementioned offense.
Thompson was arrested without incident, and transported to the Jersey County Jail where he is currently held, without Pre-Trial Release; pending further hearing.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the brave victim for coming forward, the family of the victim, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, United Child Advocacy Network (UCAN), Illinois Department of Child & Family Services (DCFS), and the Calhoun County State’s Attorney’s Office for their assistance in the investigation and ongoing prosecution.
