JJ Weber scored in the eighth inning, and West Central beat Brown County 8-7 in softball Apr. 9 at Winchester.
Weber reached base on a fielder’s choice after Jada Lawson singled to lead off the inning. Weber scored on a sacrifice bunt by Kynlee Price.
The Cougars (3-6) jumped out to a 5-0 lead with two runs in the first inning three in the second.
Hallee Lawson drove in two runs in a single in the first inning. Mia Sievers scored on an error in the second inning. Weber and Karlie Kendall both singled and drove in runs in the inning.
Brown County tied the game at 5 before West Central scored two runs in the fifth inning.
Sievers hit a sacrifice fly, and Jada Lawson drove in a run with a single to give West Central a 7-5 lead.
Brown County tied the game with two runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Jada Lawson went 4-for-5, scored two runs and drove in one for West Central.
Weber went 2-for-5, scored two runs and drove in one run. Hallee Lawson went 2-for-4, scored one run and drove in two runs.
Kendal went 1-for-2 and drove in one run. Sievers and Kynlee Price each scored one run and drove in one run. Jerzi Clark scored one run. Marissa Metz went 1-for-2.
Weber pitched the final four innings and picked up the win. She allowed two runs, four hits and walked four batters. She struck out three.
Jada Lawson pitched the first four innings. She allowed five runs, six hits and walked two batters. She struck out three batters.

JJ Weber allowed just three hits as West Central beat South Fulton 11-1 in softball Apr. 8 at Winchester.
The game was scoreless before the Cougars scored nine runs in the third inning.
Jada Lawson drove in three runs with a triple in the inning. Mia Sievers singled and drove in one run. Hallee Lawson was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Myah Little drew a bases loaded walk. Little and Jada Lawson each scored two runs in the inning.
Weber hit a two run home run in the fifth inning.
Jada Lawson went 2-for-3 with a triple, scored two runs and drove in three runs for the winners.
Little went 1-for-2, scored two runs and drove in one run. Weber went 1-for-4 with a home run, scored one run and drove in two runs.
Hallee Lawson went 1-for-2, scored one run and drove in one run. Mia Sievers went 1-for-3, scored one run and drove in one run. Jerzi Clark went 1-for-2 and scored one run.
Karlie Kendall and Lexi Whitehead each scored one run.
Weber allowed one earned while walking three batters and striking out eight.
