Ten runs in seventh inning earn Lady Cougars a win

West Central scored 10 runs in the top of the seventh inning and rallied to beat Brown 13-9 in softball April 28 at Mt. Sterling.
The Cougars trailed 9-1 before they scored two in the sixth inning and erupted in the seventh. The first 12 batters reached base in the seventh inning.
Mia Sievers walked and Jada Lawson singled to start the inning. Myah Little singled and drove in Sievers. JJ Weber doubled and drove in Lawson, and Kynlee Price drove in Little with a single.
Weber scored when Karlie Kendall reached on an error. Hallee Lawson walked to load the bases, and Price scored when Jerzi Clark reached on a fielder’s choice. Marissa Metz reached on a fielder’s choice. Kendall scored to tie the game when Sievers singled.
Jada Lawson singled and drove in Clark and Metz to give the Cougars an 11-9 lead. Sievers scored when Little reached on an error, and Lawson scored when Price singled.
Jada Lawson retired Brown County in order in the bottom of the inning as West Central improved to 7-10.
Clark doubled and scored on a single by Sievers in the second inning. Price walked, Kendall reached on an error and both scored when Hallee Lawson singled in the sixth inning.
Sievers went 2-for-3, scored two runs and drove in two runs for the winners. Price went 2-for-4, scored two runs and drove in two runs.
Jada Lawson went 2-for-5, scored two runs and drove in two runs. Weber went 2-for-5 with a double, scored one run and drove in one run.
Clark went 1-for-3 with a double, scored two runs and drove in one run. Hallee Lawson went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs.
Little went 1-for-5, scored one run and drove in one run. Kendall went 1-for-5 and scored two runs. Metz scored one run.
Jada Lawson allowed just one run over the last four innings and picked up the win. She allowed three hits and one walk while striking out one batter. She retired the last eight batters she faced.
