Maci Peterson won both the 100 and 300 hurdles to lead West Central the Western Illinois Valley Conference championship May 7 at Carrollton.
West Central finished with 135 points and won the championship for the fifth time in six year. Virgina finished second with 98 points, and Carrollton was third with 88. North Greene was fourth with 78, and Pleasant Hill was fifth with 74. Routt (53) finished fifth, Greenfield-Northwestern (52) finished sixth and Brown County (51) was sixth.
Peterson won the 100 hurdles in :14.2 and the 300 hurdles in 51.4. She was fourth in the 200 in 28.7 and fifth in the 100 in 14.2.
Izzy Wellenreiter was second in the 1600 in 6:12.1
Sofie Grubb was third in the 400 in 1:08.1 and fourth in the triple jump at 29-9. Evynn Gregory finished third in the 300 hurdles in 52.9 and third in the triple jump at 29-9. She was fourth in the 100 hurdles in 17.9
Laia Muntane was third in the 3200 in 15:33.2 and ninth in the 400 in 1:19.2. Alayna Schmidt was third in the shot put at 28-6 and third in the discus at 90-11 ½. Mae Rueter was third in the 800 in 2:37.1 and fifth in the high jump at 4-6.
Karoline Lomelino finished fourth in the 3200 in 17:57.4, eighth in the 1600 in 8:02.4 and seventh in the discus at 61-2.
Jaysa Likes finished seventh in the high jump at 4-4 and 11th in the long jump at 11-9. Gabby Femmber finished tenth in the long jump at 11-10 and 13th in the 100 in 16.0.
The Cougars also won the 4×400 in 4:34.4 and the 4×800 relay in 12:33.4
Rueter, Gregory, Wellenreiter and Grubb each ran in the 4×400 relay. Wellenreiter, Muntane, Lomelino and Rueter ran in the 4×800 relay.
West Central finished seventh in the 4×100 relay in 59.9 and seventh in the 4×200 relay in 2:17.1
Likes, Hayden Yearian, Femmer and Grubb ran in the 4×100 relay. Likes, Muntane, Femmer and Yearian ran in the 4×200 relay.
