Maci Peterson won the 100 hurdles and finished second in the 300 hurdles at the IHSA Class 1A Girls Track and Field Sectional May 14 at Pleasant Plains.
The top two individuals in each event, and those that met qualifying standards advanced to this weekend’s state championships at Eastern Illinois University.
Pleasant Plains won the team championship with 119.83 points. West Central finished sixth overall with 60 points.
Peterson won the 100 hurdles in 16.23 and was second in the 300 hurdles in 49.54.
The 4×800 relay place second in 11:02.19 and advanced to the state championships. Izzy Wellenreiter, Evynn Gregory, Laia Muntane and Mae Rueter each ran in the relay.
Alayna Schmidt finished third in the discus at 29.50 meters and eighth in the shot put at 8.41.
Gregory finished fifth in the 100 hurdles in 17.95 and sixth in the 300 hurdles in 54.16. She finished eighth in the triple jump at 9.73 meters.
Rueter finished fifth in the 800 in 2:32.89 and seventh in the long jump at 1.37 meters. Zela Walker finished fifth in the shot put at 9.19.
Sofie Grubb finished sixth in the 400 in 1:06.72 and seventh in the triple jump at 9.76. Wellenreiter finished seventh in the 1600 in 6:14.90.
Jaysa Likes finished eighth in the high jump at 1.37 and 12th in the long jump and was 18th in the 100 in 14.83. Karoline Lomelino was 13th in the discus at 20.57. Gabby Femmer was 14th in the long jump at 3.88, was 19th in the 200 in 33.08 and was 21st in the 100 in 15.29.
