Normally, the presence of a cow in Greene County isn’t a big deal, but when it is a cute little Highland cow, it is a very big deal. Rossco’s Ice Cream Shack in Greenfield brought Powers’ Highland Haven to the Square last Sunday and they brought three cute little Highland cows, including a one-week old, very rare silver Highland named Dixie. Also along for the attention were 13 week old Dax and 14 week old Delilah. Children had the opportunity to pet them, get their photo taken with them and brush them. Lots of kids from all over came, despite the heat, to take advantage of the opportunity to see this rare breed of cow, rare to the US that is.

Thirteen-week-old Delilah is used to posing for photos, just as she is here with Kenzie Clanton who wanted to take a selfie with the little girl who was all decked out in ribbons and a pink harness. (Carmen Ensinger/River County News)
