Man with extensive criminal history denied pre-trial release

On Sept. 29, 2023, at 11:07 a.m., the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Residential Burglary which occurred at a residence on Quarry Ct., Golden Eagle, Calhoun County, Illinois. The caller stated that he came home from work and his house and several vehicles had been burglarized. Additionally, the victim stated that his black 2013 Cadillac Escalade had been stolen.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Zach Hardin immediately responded to the residence and began processing the scene; and led the investigation into identifying the suspect(s).
While investigating this incident, Deputies discovered evidence that an additional residence on Quarry Rd. was also burglarized. After an intensive and thorough investigation, a suspect was identified, and warrants were sought by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
On Oct. 3, 2023, the Calhoun County State’s Attorney’s Office filed an eight-count information charging Kyle L. Hahler, aged 35, of Saint Louis, Missouri, for the offenses of:
ν Residential Burglary
ν Possession of Stolen Property
ν Theft ($10,000 – $100,000)
ν Criminal Damage to Property ($500 – $10,000)
ν Criminal Trespass to Vehicle (Three Counts)
ν Criminal Trespass to a Residence.
On October 4th 2023, the Calhoun County State’s Attorney’s Office filed an additional felony four-count information charging Hahler with the offenses of:
ν Burglary
ν Theft ($500 – $10,000)
ν Criminal Damage to Property ($500 – $10,000)
ν Criminal Trespass to a Building
On Nov. 7, 2023, Hahler was arrested by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for Stealing – Motor Vehicle.
Hahler was later incarcerated in the St. Louis County Jail until Sept. 4, 2024, when he cleared his Missouri charges and waived extradition to return to the State of Illinois.
On Sept. 17, 2024, Hahler was transported to the Calhoun County Courthouse for his first appearance.
The Honorable Judge Charles HW Burch denied Pre-Trial Release and Hahler is currently being held without bond at the Greene County Jail.
Hahler has an extensive criminal history that includes violent offenses, drug and theft charges.
Furthermore, everyone here at CCSO, and our victim would like to personally thank all our local citizens and witnesses for their help in identifying this suspect, and regularly working with us hand-in-hand to keep Calhoun safe.

All suspect(s) are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
