Brown County scored two runs in the first inning and went on to beat West Central 6-1 in the championship game of the Brown County Class 2A regional in junior high baseball Sept. 28 at Mt. Sterling.
West Central trailed 3-0 before scoring its run in the fourth inning.
Thrice Kirkpatrick walked and went to third on a single by Masyn Alexander. Colby Pratt followed with a single to drive in Kirkpatrick.
The Cougars had runners also in scoring position in the third, fourth and fifth inning.
Corbin Arnold doubled and stole third base with out. After Kirkpatrick scored, Alexander reached third base and pinch runner Hudson Little reached second base.
Blayne Vortman doubled in the fifth inning for West Central, who finished the season 15-4.
