Harley Eugene Howland | 83 | Three Rivers, TX

Harley Eugene Howland, age 83, of Three Rivers, TX, recently of Plattsmouth, NE passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2025 at the Monroe Manor in Paris, MO.
Harley was born July 5, 1941 in Hamburg, IL, the son of Marvin Eugene and Dolores Virginia (Jones) Howland. He married his beloved Saranne Eldred in November 1985 in Mozier, IL. Over the years, Harley worked for local farmers, covered many miles as a truck driver, and operated heavy equipment for over 30 years. Additionally, he also raised and sold meat rabbits, and at one time raised nearly 400. Once retired, Harley spent his time crafting and building artisan wood projects.
He is survived by his children, Helen Michelle Howland, James Eugene Howland, Bridget Louise Sheldon, Anthony Schnell, Michael Schnell, Peggy Fikir and Mary Tibbitts; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Verna Spangler (Gene) and Andrea Padberg; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Saranne on Oct. 2, 2023; one daughter, Jolene Smith; and sisters, Arada Halsema and Carol Virginia Webb.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Hamburg Cemetery in Hamburg, IL, followed by a light lunch at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Pleasant Hill, IL. Memorials may be made to the Hamburg Cemetery (payable to George Smith, 278 E. Hamburg Michael Road, Hamburg, IL 62045).
