Adam Kyle Ferguson | 38 | Pleasant Hill

Adam Kyle Ferguson, a deeply respected son, loyal friend and proud combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025. Born on Dec. 7, 1986, Adam was the son of Kim Ferguson and grew up in the tight-knit community of Pleasant Hill, Illinois. He attended Pleasant Hill High School, where he developed a strong sense of community and leadership that would guide him throughout his life.
At the young age of 18, Adam made the noble decision to enlist in the United States Marine Corps, driven by an unwavering commitment to serve his country and protect the freedoms we cherish. His service was characterized by courage, resilience, and an unyielding dedication to his fellow Marines. Rising to the rank of Corporal, Adam served as an Infantryman, deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on two occasions, where he faced the trials of combat with remarkable bravery. He also participated in crucial deterrence operations directed at the Korean Peninsula, showcasing his readiness to serve in any capacity needed to safeguard our nation.
Beyond the accolades and medals, including the Combat Action Ribbon, the Navy Unit Commendation (three times), the Good Conduct Medal (twice), the Iraq Campaign Medal with one service star, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (three times), Adam’s true legacy lies in the values he embodied: honor, courage, and commitment. He was a proud member of the 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion and the Marine Corps Security Cooperation Group (MCSCG), where he forged lifelong bonds with his brothers and sisters in arms.
Adam is survived by his mother, Kim Ferguson and many friends, who will forever treasure his memory. His loved ones will remember him not only for his steadfast dedication to his country but also for his infectious spirit, generous heart, and the joy he brought to those around him. He had an extraordinary ability to connect with others, inspiring them to embrace courage and resilience in their own lives.
A service honoring the extraordinary life and service of Adam will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the Pleasant Hill American Legion from 6 until 8 p.m. Burial, with full military honors, will be held Monday, May 5, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis County, Missouri.
