Sandy Henson Bailey, age 66, of Greenfield, Il. and formerly of Carrollton, IL. passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
She was born June 8, 1959 in Jerseyville, daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Mary Lucille Hardwick Henson.
Surviving are her grandchildren, Kylie Slagle of Carrollton, Libby Meuth of Carrollton, and Clay Meuth stationed at Moody AFB in Moody, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Myles Slagle and Briggs Slagle; siblings, Gail Mountain (Jon Davis) of Carrollton, Il.; half-sister Judy Thompson of Wisconsin and Pat Rose of Iowa; nieces and nephews, Melissa Hoots (Matt), Seth Mountain (Megan), Madison McEvers (Bubba), Lucy Hoots, and Taryn Mountain; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Josh Merkle and her companion, Tim Dixon.
Sandy was a 1977 graduate of Carrollton High School.  She worked many years at the Dairy Queen in Carrollton and many years at Lone Oak Golf Course near Carrollton before retiring.  She loved to golf, ride Harleys, and listening to classic rock.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday (July 10, 2025) at Mt. Gilead Cemetery near Carrollton. Memorials may be made Chloe Foundation and sent to Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, 108 5th St. Carrollton, Il. 62016.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.airsman-hires.com.
