David Irvin Wells | 95 | Godfrey

David Irvin Wells, 95, of Godfrey, completed his earthly journey of life and entered eternal rest at 3:05 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025 in Alton, IL.
He was born on Oct. 18, 1929 in Roodhouse, IL; the son of the late Irvin and Ruth (Cowhick) Wells.
He was the beloved husband and best friend of Mary Newberry Wells.
They were united in marriage on  Nov. 1, 1947. Their union was blessed with a loving family of three sons and a daughter; David B. (Iris) Wells of Godfrey, IL, Terry (Julie) Wells of Alton, IL, Kevin (Penny) Wells of Meadowbrook; IL, Deborah (Dee-Dee) Cunningham of Alton, IL, 10 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren; siblings, Russell Wells of Barrow, IL, Ned (Mary) Wells of Bethalto, IL, Polly (Jerry) Lincoln of Godfrey, IL; a brother-in-law, Dale Neff of Roodhouse, IL;  a sister-in-law, Marilyn Wells of West York, IL.
David was a member of Beltline Christian Center in Alton, and was formerly employed with Laclede Steel in Alton for 37 1/2 years and retired in 1992.
He was preceded by his parents, Irvin and Ruth Wells; siblings, Glenn (Donna) Wells, Leonard (Juanita) Wells, Ruby (Bill) Dyer, Carol (Archie) Crotchett, Ray Wells, Opal Neff, infant brother, Don Wells; a sister-in-law, Carole Wells; and a son-in-law, Dennis Cunningham.
David’s death is being mourned, but his life is being celebrated by family and friends.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of Funeral Services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 17 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral  Home in Bethalto with Rev. Todd Shaw officiating.
Burial will take place in the Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to the Beltline Christian Center.
