A Hillsboro man, flying through Greene County at 35 miles per hour over the posted speed limit and leading police on a chase, has been sentenced to 24 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Greene County States Attorney Craig Grummel announced that Corey L. Roth, 37, was sentenced on April 27 in Greene County Circuit Court by Judge Zachary Schmidt to 24 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections following his guilty plea to Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, a Class 4 Felony.
This sentence is to run concurrent with two Adams County cases in which Roth was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment for Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Weapon by a Felony in one case and Aggravated Battery in a Public Place on another case.
The Greene County conviction arose from an incident occurring on Jan. 24 in Greene County. Roth admitted that after being given a visual signal by a police officer to stop, he attempted to elude law enforcement while operating a Chevrolet SUV at a speed greater than 35 miles per hour over the posted speed limit in White Hall.
Grummel thanks the City of Carrollton Police Department and the City of White Hall Police Department for their work and cooperation in the investigation and prosecution of this matter.
“Our office remains committed to holding individuals accountable when their actions place law enforcement officers and the public at risk,” Grummel said.
