Mason Berry scored three touchdowns, and West Central beat North Greene 60-6 in football, Friday, Sept. 30, at Winchester.
The Cougars (3-3) will host Carrollton (2-4) Friday at 7 p.m.
Berry scored on a 22-yard run for West Central’s first touchdown of the game. Conner Turner ran for the conversion. Berry scored again on a 9-yard run and ran for the conversion.
West Central needed just four offensive plays to score both touchdowns and led 16-0 with 6:58 remaining in the first quarter.
Zack Evans scored when he caught 26-yard pass from Tyson Brown. Hayden Jefferson caught a pass from Brown for the conversion, and the Cougars led 24-0 with 3:28 remaining in the quarter.
The Cougars scored three more times in the second quarter and led 46-0 at halftime.
Berry scored his third touchdown of the game on a 13-yard run with 8:10 remaining in the third quarter.
Landyn Woods scored on a 14-yard with 4:45 remaining in the quarter. Evans caught a pass from Brown for the conversion.
Jefferson caught a seven-yard pass from Brown with 1:54 remaining, and Ryker Ford ran for the conversion.
North Greene had just two total yards in the first half. The Spartans passed for 13 yards but had minus 11 yards rushing. West Central had 245 yards rushing in the half.
Conner Turner returned the second half kickoff 75 yards, and Berry ran for the conversion to make the scored 54-0. It was the third time that Turner has returned a kickoff for a touchdown this season.
Gavyn Thomas scored on a 12-yard run in the third quarter. Evans set the touchdown up by returning an interception 54 yards.
North Greene broke the shutout on a 12-yard pass with 6:03 remaining in the game.
West Central finished with 416 total yards and 15 first downs in the game. The Cougars rushed for 287 yards on 23 attempts.
Brown rushed for 102 yards on five attempts. Berry rushed for 73 yards on seven attempts. Ford rushed for 53 yards on four attempts. Thomas rushed for 34 yards on three attempts, and Woods rushed for 25 yards on four attempts.
Brown completed 11 of 14 passes for 129 yards. Evans caught four passes for 49 yards. Turner caught one pass for 35 yards. Jefferson caught three passes for 23 yards.
Woods caught two passes for 16 yards, and Ford caught one pass for six yards.
Evans tied a West Central record with three interceptions in one game. Luke Coultas intercepted three passes in a game at North Greene in 2017. Berry intercepted one pass.
