Winchester band holds last performance of the school year

School Music Director Dominic LaSalle said Winchester’s last concert of the school year was the first time the high school’s jazz combo had ever performed together. Winchester band members from 5th grade to high school presented their last concert of the school year on Wednesday, May 8. The Jazz Combo is made up of students Will Jones on clarinet, Gavin Hettinger on trumpet, Dakota Kline on vibraphone and Jacob Hart on drums.They entertained the audience before the Beginning 5th Grade band played four songs, including an Ode to Joy and Old McDonald Had a Farm. They were followed by the Junior High band, who performed two songs in tribute to the night’s Disney theme. The nearly 26 member band performed the Circle of Life and Bare Necessities just before the high school band also performed Disney favorites like Arabian Nights and the theme from The Incredibles. Jazz Combo member and Student Conductor Gavin Hettinger led them in performing “Beauty and the Beast.” (Jessica Brown/Scott County Times)
