Terry L. Edwards | 73 | Carrollton

Terry L. Edwards, 73, of Carrollton died on Sunday Sept. 12, 2021 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.Born in Carrollton on May 1, 1948, he was the son of the late Vernice and Della Maxine (Bridgewater) Edwards.He married Sue Wykoff; his wife of 54 years on Oct. 6, 1967 and she survives.  Also surviving are two daughters:  Shannon (Blake) Dugger of Jerseyville, Tiara (Robert) Lorsbach of Carrollton, 5 grandchildren: Jade (Aaron) Onkle, Dylan and Hannah Lorsbach, Makena and Christian Dugger, a great granddaughter Violet Onkle and a sister: Marilyn Davison of Springfield.Terry was preceded in death by his parents, and a son David Edwards.Terry was a 1966 graduate of Carrollton High School and proudly served his country on Hontre Island just off the coast of Natrang in the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.  He received a letter of commendation for exemplary performance as Power Plant Operator/Mechanic.   After his service to this country, he worked as a mechanic for many years namely at Hartman Ford and Camerer Chevrolet in Carrollton.  After retirement, he enjoyed participating in art and writing classes at the St. Louis VA and became a published author of Poetry.  Known as “Grumpy” he loved spending time with his grandkids.  He loved his family and was very proud of each.  He was a very kind and generous man, and will be missed by all who knew him. 

There will be a private burial service at Mt. Gilead Cemetery, with a memorial service to be held at a later date.  In lieu of memorials the family requests that you spend that time and resources to do something with your family, the time is fleeting and so very precious.  Airsman-Hires Funeral Home is assisting the family at this time.  Condolences may be left online at:  www.airsman-hires.com.
