Diane M. Moore | 75 | Petersburg

Diane M. Moore, 75, of Petersburg, formerly of Winchester, passed away after a courageous 5 year battle with lung cancer, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at her residence. She was born Apr. 4, 1951, in Peoria, the daughter of Vincent and Irene McGinnis Baker. She married Robert “Bob” Moore, June 23, 1973.
Surviving is husband, Bob of Petersburg; children, Jennifer (Mark) Cox of Petersburg and Brett (Melissa) Moore of Darien; five grandchildren, Chloe, Christa, Cassie, Olivia and Charlie; and sisters, Karen Cotton of East Peoria and Mary Hayse of Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dennis Baker.
Diane graduated from Western IL University. She was an admired teacher at Winchester Elementary for 33 years; who touched the lives of many children. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Winchester before moving to Petersburg where she was active member at First Christian Church of Petersburg. She was also a member of the Petersburg Women’s Club. Diane enjoyed traveling, reading, playing board games and volunteering at Give and Take in Petersburg. Most of all, she loved spending quality time with her grandchildren and watching their sporting events. She wasn’t only “Nana” to her own grandchildren but to their friends as well.
A celebration of life will be held 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2026, at Chapter II Events located at the former MacMurray College Library. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Petersburg or the Lung Cancer Foundation. Daws Family Funeral Home in Jacksonville is assisting the family.
