Betty Louise Edwards | 91 | Carrollton

Betty Edwards, 91, of Carrollton died early Tuesday morning, Dec. 21, 2021 at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jerseyville.
Born in Carrollton on May 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Arnold and Adelia (Gilleland) Bowers. She married Orville Edwards on May 15, 1955 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 1989.
Surviving are her daughter: Karen (Kevin) Ridenour of Carrollton, three grandsons:  Logan (Jennifer) Ridenour, Lance Ridenour and Ethan Ridenour, great grandchildren: Lincoln, Emery and Layton, and a sister-in-law: Mary Lou Bowers of Concord, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband and two brothers and a sister-in-law: Arnold Rodell Bowers and Joseph and Bev Bowers.
Betty was a bank teller for 45 years at the Greene County National Bank (now CNB).  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved to crochet and knit; making many beautiful quilts, afghans, and her famous dish rags. Betty was known for her home cooked meals especially her chicken and noodles and fried chicken. Her family always loved her smile, her laugh, and her candid honesty.
A special thanks goes to Lisa Ivers-Newton, Christina Newton, Christina Briles, Missy Camden, and Home Instead for the care they provided to keep her in the comforts of her own home as long as possible.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church near Carrollton at. Burial will be in Eldred Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Eldred. Donations may be made to: Mt. Gilead Baptist Church or BJC Hospice.
