West Central swept all of the relay events and won the WIVC Girls’ Track and Field championship on May 3 at Carrollton.
The Cougars finished 176 points. Greenfield-Northwestern and Routt tied for second with 112 points.
West Central won the 4×100 in 54.52 seconds, the 4×200 in 1:55.46 minutes, the 4×400 in 4:34.97 minutes and the 4×800 in 11:16.92 minutes.
Elise Brown, Brooklyn Gregory, Anna Sellars and Olivia Bingeman each ran in the 4×100 relay. Brown, Gregory, Sellars and Laura Garrett ran in the 4×200 relay.
Gregory, Kaylee Hamilton, Gabby Sievers and Emy Martinez ran in the 4×400 relay. Hamilton, Tristan Lashmett, Sievers and Martinez each ran in the 4×800 relay.
It was the first time in more than 20 years that a school has swept the relay events at the meet.
Garrett won the shot put with a distance of 29-9. Ashlyn Likes won the high jump with a height of 4-7. Martinez won the 800m race in 2:37 minutes.
Bingeman finished second in the 100 in 13.67 seconds and second in the hurdles in 52.52 seconds.
Hamilton finished second in the 800m race in 2:53 minutes. Kenzi Jones finished second in the mile in 7:05 minutes. Brylee Lawson finished second in the discus at 101-0.
