Rudy J. Tefertiller | 57 | Carrollton

Rudy J. Tefertiller, 57, of Carrollton, formerly of West Frankfort, IL, died at 7:34 am  Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at his home with his wife Cindy by his side.
He was born at Dela Base Adrienne de Toul-Rosieres in France and was the son of the late Rudoloph and Theresa Kathleen (Robinson) Tefertiller.
Upon his father’s discharge from the service the family moved back to the United States and settled into the West Frankfort, Illinois community.
Rudy graduated from West Frankfort Community High School in 1983 and then went on to attend John Logan and Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
He later followed his brother to Jerseyville and started working with him at Schneider Trucking. His move to Jerseyville lead him on a path to meet the love of his life.
He married Cynthia Steinacher on Jan. 1, 2000 at Bethel Methodist Church in Dow, Illinois in a small ceremony with close family and friends.
He spent most of his adult life as a truck driver until his health would no longer allow him. After that he helped his wife with the daycare children which he all adored.
While Rudy didn’t have children of his own, he viewed his stepchildren and daycare children as his own. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren doing whatever made them happy. They instantly put a huge smile on his face. He grinned from ear to ear when he found out his youngest grandson would be named after him. He enjoyed most spending time with his wife either at home or enjoying an occasional frosty drink and playing slot machines. Prior to his health taking a turn, you could typically find him on the golf course.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children and spouses, Jason and Karen Coad of Burke,  VA, Jenny and Todd Wendle of Jerseyville and Chris and Evelyn Steinacher of Collinsville; mother in-law, Ethel Steinacher; nine grandchildren, Austin, Drew and Gavin Coad; Audrina, CJ, Blake and Maverick Rudy Steinacher; Gage and Morgan Wendle; two sisters and brothers in-law, Dawn and Brad Melvin of West Frankfort and LaDonna and Thomas Pelafas of Wheaton; along with several nieces and nephews; honorary children, Katelyn, Chas, Kea, Kelly, Christa, Kelsie, Lauren, Rylee, Adelyn, Matt, Kaylin, Abby, Lucas, Ashley, Dixie, Xoe, Bailey, Kimmie Jo, Lyndon, Kaison, Veda, Lyrika and Brynlee; his partners in crime, Collins Newton and Brynna Huff.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, “Lu” Tefertiller; father in-law, John Steinacher; sister, Sharon (Tefertiller) Jenkins; brother Dwaine Tefertiller.
Per his request, Rudy will be cremated. There will be a celebration of life to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with bills. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton is assisting the family. Condolences may be left online at
