From the desk of Pastor David Slagle-217-473-1892.
Beautiful Sunday morning drive to church. Last evening Judy I had the opportunity to attend the Dennis Cunningham Memorial sing at his home church North Alton Southern Baptist Church in Alton. Dennis went to his heavenly home this past January. He was a great friend to the Walkerville Church family and so many others through the area. Dennis served as the associate pastor of the North Alton Baptist Church. He was a true servant of his Lord and Savior. Dennis and his wife, Dee, formed the singing duo serenity sound. Dennis will be missed, but he will live on in the hearts of those he ministered to.
We welcome our visitors this morning along with a great gathering of God’s family. Don’t forget to make plans to attend our Walkerville Church Thanksgiving dinner this coming Sunday Nov. 13 right after the worship service.
We are gathering warm gloves, scarves, caps and socks for the event in Roodhouse Park in the evening of Nov. 25. We are also collecting non-perishable food items for the North Greene Food Pantry. Please circle Dec. 4 on your calendar and plan on attending our Christmas concert with the singing group, Riven.
Our message this morning was from the book of Mark Chapters 5 and 6. I invite you to read these chapters and see the miracles Jesus performed and the opinions formed by those hearing him in the synagogue and those that followed him.
We invite you to join us on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. for our Bible study. Our recent prayer requests are Ava and Dan, Patty H., Dianne, Denny and Sherry, for a baby with breathing problems.
