From the desk of Pastor David Slagle, 217-473-1892.
Nice drive to church this morning and we enjoyed all the neat cloud formations on the way home. Well, last week I was unable to send anything to the paper. We were without power through Sunday evening. It did come back on, but was on for only a short time. In December 2007 after a big storm, our power was out for some time and we lived in our family room heated by a fireplace insert and cooked our meals with this insert. When power was restored, I went to Home Depot and bought a generator. My wife thought I was foolish but I was sure I would use it some day and last week it was used a lot. She never said a word. Ummmmm!! We enjoyed a good gathering of Walkerville church family this morning. Thank you Sara for the keyboard special, it was really great. And thank you Denny for your special verse. Our message this morning was Psalm 23:verse 5, ”meaning of my cup overflows,” not does God provide what we need. He always gives more. Bbecause our cup overflows, we can be generous like our father and use what he has given us to be his blessing upon other people, “you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.’’ Think about this picture- God will be serving believers and our enemies will be shut out, but I believe they will see all that happens and Satan can’t stop any of this. Our prayer requests are-George and Sandy Campbell, Randy, Harold/Tina, Judy, Ashley, several unspoken requests-Diane shared a praise of answered prayer over a medical condition. We invite you to join us each Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. for our morning worship service and each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. for our bible study. All are welcomed, any questions you may call me. God bless.
