From the desk of Pastor David Slagle 217-473-1892.
Cool but very nice drive to church this morning. We always enjoy the fellowship and visiting that happens before the morning worship service begins. It is good to gather together and share the happenings of the week. We were blessed to welcome Richard and Rachel Nations to our fellowship this morning. Again we’re blessed to receive a used but very well taken care of piano in the past two weeks. We have an older upright piano to give away if anyone is interested you may call me at the above number. Our Walkerville Baptist Church Thanksgiving Dinner is next Sunday after the morning service. You are invited to join us for church and dinner. We are collecting non-perishable items for the North Greene Food Pantry up to and through Thanksgiving.
December 10th, 2 by 2 Southern Gospel Group will present the story of Christmas in word and song. There will be a freewill offering received and a luncheon will follow the concert. Our message this morning was from Psalm 46:1-11 “God can handle your crisis.”
In times of trouble and doubt God is our refuge and our strength to handle what attacks us. So many times we run in circles not knowing what to do but we must give the problem to God and let him handle it for us. He is our refuge. Prayer requests are Robert F, Harold/Jane, Robbie, John Huff, Joe/recovering from surgery, Mike/medical test coming up, Judy Menze family. Prayers for family who lost a family member. Pastor David for upcoming surgery.
Thanks to our church for the birthday gift. It’s an honor to be your pastor.
Don’t forget to join us on Sunday, Nov. 19, for our Thanksgiving dinner. God bless.
