Delavan scored four runs in the fourth inning and held off West Central 6-4 in the semifinals of the Mendon Unity Sectional May 22 in high school baseball.
West Central was held without a hit for the first six innings and finished with just one in the game.
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when Delevan took the lead. They added two more runs and led 6-0 after six innings.
Carson Brown and Dalton Hutton both walked to start the top of the seventh inning. Caden Meyer was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Tucker Arnold drew a bases loaded walk to force in West Central’s first run. Chance Little was hit by pitch to force in another run, and the Cougars trailed 6-2 with one out.
Anthony Hance followed with a double to drive in two runs. West Central trailed just 6-4 and had runners on second and third with one out.
The next batters flew out to centerfield and grounded out to end the game.
West Central had two runners reach in the fourth inning when Sievers reached on an error, and Hutton walked but could not score.
Cameron Sievers pitched six innings and suffered the loss. He allowed six hits and six runs, including four earned runs. He struck out eight batters and walked three.
Hance had the only hit of the game for the Cougars, who finished the season 18-8. He also drove in two runs.
Arnold scored one run and drove in one run for West Central. Brown, Hutton and Meyer each scored one run. Little drove in one run.
