Kathleen Ann Rawe | 84 | Carrollton

Kathleen Ann (Ryan) Rawe, age 84 of Carrollton passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with family by her side. She was born Jan. 16,1940, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of John B. and Christine E. (Sommers) Ryan of Springfield, IL.
Kathleen graduated from Ursuline Academy, class of 1957. She worked at St. John Hospital and for Dr. Clarence Fleischli. She also helped care for her younger brothers and participated in the Catholic Youth program where she met Leonard Rawe. They married on Sept. 4,1965, and resided all their married life in Carrollton, IL. Leonard preceded Kathleen in death on Feb. 18, 2016.
She is survived by her four brothers, Tim, Pat, John and Frank Ryan; children, Joe Rawe of Delavan, IL; Ryan (Jenny) Rawe of Carrollton, IL; Beth (Tim) Melton of Winchester, TN; and Becky (Mike) Nordin of Elk River, MN.; four grandchildren, Alison Rawe of Springfield, IL; Grace and Henry Rawe, Carrollton, IL; Anna Rawe SK3 USCG Cape Canaveral, FL; and great granddaughter, Chloe Rawe of Springfield, IL.
Kathleen enjoyed being a homemaker and raised four children. She later worked for St. John Catholic School, volunteered regularly, served on the Carrollton School Board, and handled bookkeeping for Leonard until his retirement. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and an active member of Catholic Daughters of Americas, Court St. Joan. She enjoyed daily mass, rosary, and providing care for her grandchildren and family.
Visitation was held Friday, July 19, 2024, from 9 to 11 .m. and a memorial Mass was held at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Carrollton, IL. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Capital Campaign to build a new cafeteria and kitchen.
Airman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton is assisting the family.
