Three players scored double figures, and West Central beat Griggsville-Perry 58-31 in boys’ basketball Jan. 25 at Griggsville.
Griggsville-Perry scored the first five points of the game.
Ryker Ford made a three-point basket for West Central’s first points. Nick Hamilton scored on a layup to tie the game.
Cameron Sievers made a three-point basket, and the Cougars led 8-5 after one quarter.
West Central led 14-9 in the second quarter and scored the next 10 points.
Carson Brown scored twice and increased the lead to 18-9. Sievers and Hamilton each made three-point baskets, and West Central led 24-9.
Griggsville-Perry did not score for the final 6:12 of the second quarter.
The Cougars started the third quarter on a 9-2 run and push the lead to 33-11.
Sievers converted a three-point play, and Caden Meyer made a free throw. Sievers made a three-point basket, and Hamilton scored to give West Central a 22 point lead with 5:04 remaining in the quarter.
West Central led 43-21 after three quarters.
Blayne Sidwell made a three-point basket, and the Cougars led 53-22 with 4:11 remaining in the game.
Brown scored 15 points to lead the winners (18-4). Hamilton scored 13 points, and Sievers scored 12.
Sidwell scored six points. Ford and Meyer each scored five points. Zac Howard scored two points.
Griggsville-Perry won the junior varsity game 51-44.
Charlie Smith scored 16 points to lead West Central. Cooper Eddinger scored 11.
Landon Wahl scored six points. Preston Adams and Luke Kunz each scored four points. Leighton Smith scored three points.
