John Ervin Garrison | 68 | Jerseyville

John Ervin Garrison, 68, passed away at 9:43 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, peacefully in the comfort of his home. He was born in Carrollton, Illinois, one of seven children born to the late Royal and Hazel (Gound) Garrison. He married Janice (Serrano) Garrison in 1977, and they shared 48 wonderful years together before his passing.
John graduated from JCHS with the class of 1974, he then attended Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL, to play football. He worked at FS and then Wagner Seed and Supply as a crop specialist for many years. John enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends in the infamous “Buck Hut.” John touched the lives of many with his big heart and charismatic nature.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; son, Paul Garrison and his wife Betsy of Elizabethtown, KY; three grandchildren, Abram, Jonas, and Noble Garrison of Elizabethtown, KY; three sisters and their spouses, Debbie Phillips of Jerseyville, Joan and Bob Cope of Neoga, IL, Lori and Kenny Young of Jerseyville; two brothers in-law, Scott Douglass of Jerseyville and Douglas Dunham of Fieldon; three sisters in-law and their spouses, Emma and Phil VanDyke of Rochester, IL, Rose Serrano of Rochester and May Keller of Jerseyville; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Denise Douglass and Kathy Dunham; brother, Scott Garrison; two brothers in-law, Simmeon Phillips and Larry Keller; a sister in-law, Carol Bayer and mother in-law, Vernita Serrano.
John will be cremated and a mass with burial will be held at a later date as per his wishes. The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be given to his wife to help with expenses. Memorials may be sent to: Janice Garrison, 25579 McClusky Trail, Jerseyville, IL 62052
