Brown County scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning and beat West Central 12-11 in softball Apr. 24 at Mt. Sterling.
West Central trailed 11-10 before scoring a run in the top of the seventh inning.
Elaine Sprague was hit by a pitch, went to second on a wild pitch, record third on an error and scored on a passed ball. The Cougars had runners on second and third but could not score.
The Cougars scored two runs in the second inning and led 9-6 after scoring seven runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Maci Peterson doubled in the second inning and scored when Kylie Clayton reached on an error. Clayton scored on a ground out by Sprague.
Brown County led 6-2 before the Cougars scored seven in the fifth.
Zela Walker reached on an error, Myah Little singled and Paisley Sturtevant walked to load the bases. Brylee Lawson tripled to drive in all three runners. Peterson singled to drive in Lawson.
Sprague and Adrienne Kaufman both singled and drove in runs. Kaufmann scored when she stole home.
Brown County tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the inning. West Central responded with a run in the sixth and take a 10-9 lead.
Lawson walked and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Brown County would score two runs in the bottom of the sixth and take an 11-10 lead.
Peterson went 2-for-3 with a double, scored two runs and drove in one run for the Cougars. Sprague went 2-for-3, scored two runs and drove in one run.
Lawson went 1-for-4 with a triple, scored two runs and drove in three runs. Little went 1-for-3 and scored one run. Sturtevant wnet 1-for-4 and scored one run. Kaufmann went 1-for-4, scored one run, drove in one run and had a stolen base.
Walker scored one run. Hallee Lawson went 1-for-4.
