Get your sports physicals for school athletics before July 31
Griggsville-Perry School District’s registration for the 2025-2026 school year is currently open. Save-the-date for Open House Aug. 11 from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. and the first day of school Aug. 13 (2 p.m. dismissal).
Student athletes at GP have an opportunity to get free sports physicals, now through July 31, at the Blessing Express Clinic in Quincy. No appointment is needed. Get more information at https://www.blessinghealth.org/physicals.
Griggsville’s Dollar General store had a little makeover this week! They are planning a “soft opening” today if all goes well. Be sure to stop in and check things out!
Kids Summer Art Camp is coming up July 28-30 in the Griggsville City Park. This event will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and is for ages 3 and up. The cost is $35 for three days or $13 for a single day. Snacks and drinks will be provided daily. The last day of camp will include water art, water games and water balloons. Be sure to get your child signed up! You may send a Facebook message to Laura Gregson or text 217-602-8695. When registering, be sure to include your child’s name, age and parent contact. Deadline to sign up is this Friday.
There will be an electronic device disposal event at CNB Bank & Trust (643 W. Washington St., Pittsfield) Aug. 2 from 9a.m.-noon. If it has a cord or battery, it can be dropped off in the dumpster at CNB. Bulky picture tube TV’s will be accepted as well for a $25 fee. Take this opportunity to clean out your clutter!
The Hull of a Race is scheduled for the morning of Aug. 16. This walk/run is held in downtown Hull, and is a flat course. Proceeds from the race go toward Parkinson’s research. For more information or to sign up, go to www.hullofarace.com.
Mark your calendars now for Perry Pioneer Days “All Star Celebration!” This great event is scheduled for Aug. 22 and 23 in Perry. Cash prizes for “Best Float” and “Best Horse.” Email [email protected] to participate. Lots of fun is to be had at 2025 Perry Pioneer Days!
A household hazardous waste collection day for Illinois residents has been set for Sept. 6 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Adams County Highway Department (101 N. 54th St., Quincy – Enter from 54th Street.)
