Doris M. Behnen | 90 | Carrollton

Doris M. Behnen, 90 of Carrollton, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 26, 1934 on the family farm near Kampsville the daughter of Ora and Odessa Crader Nevius. She married William W. “Bill” Behnen on Aug. 6, 1953 in California and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2009.She is survived by two sons, Richard (Shirley) Behnen and Nathan Behnen, both of Carrollton; three daughters, Sharon (Larry) Albrecht of Bernville, PA, Sheryl (Robert) Carmody of Murrayville and Terry Flatt of Carrollton; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ada Cottingham of Jacksonville and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Nevius and Sam Oettele; her parents; and son-in-law, David Flatt.
Mrs. Behnen worked alongside her husband on the family farm for many years. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Jerseyville. She loved children and enjoyed gardening, sewing and baking, especially sugar cookies. She was a very caring person that would do anything for anybody.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Eldred Memorial Gardens. Memorials are suggested to Eldred Memorial Gardens. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
