Several people have asked when the Big River Band plays at what places. As it stands at the present time, Big River Band is at the Cardinal Inn the third Friday evening of each month and at the Pike County Senior Center the fourth Saturday of each month. At either place, there is NO admission charge, and the only pay that have EVER received and still receive is what they receive in donations during intermission at either place. They enjoy playing for everyone and are not paid by either business. Your attendance is very much appreciated at both places.

Pray for Israel and her people, pray for all the extreme tragedy that has happened in Texas and all the lives that this has touched, pray for America and America’s leaders and our families, pray for those who are sick, Sharon Straus, those who are traveling, and those who have lost loved ones.
I will lift mine eyes to the hills — from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1, 2
Trivia Answers from Last Week (anytime any of you have questions along with the answers that you would be willing to share that I could use in the column, I would be appreciative.):
1. Who is the author of the book “All Creatures Great and Small?” (James Herriot)
2. Which international best-selling author also wrote under the name Mary Westmacott? (Agatha Christie)
3. How many books are in “The Chronicles of Narnia” series by C.S. Lewis? (Seven)
4. What sign did God give Noah that He’d never flood the earth again? (a rainbow)
Gary and Carla Furniss of Barry recently spent a long weekend in St. Louis with their son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Katie Furniss and children Carter and Milly. The birthdays of Ryan (July 23), Carter (July 26), and Milly (August 4) were celebrated with a huge family get together on July 27. Others who attended were: Katie’s parents Bill and Kathy Fienup of Town and Country, Missouri; Katie’s aunt Susie Gould of University City, Missouri, and her friend Gary; and Carter and Milly’s aunt, uncle, and cousins Amy and Josh Kremer, Jane, Addie, Tess, and William of University City. (It was nice visiting with you, Carla.)
Wednesday, July 30, found a group of 24 Single Seniors at the Pike County Senior Center where we enjoyed a delicious meal of ham loaves, cheesy potatoes, pea salad, and mandarin orange cake prepared by Reca. (Jamie and I had received a menu of choices for the main entree, two sides, and desserts, and we picked what we thought sounded good at that time, although it all sounded great). Plenty of good conversing was shared and enjoyed by all as well. (By the way, it isn’t too late to join Single Seniors. Only qualifications are you must be single and over 55, be able to pay for your once a month meal, provide your own transportation, and be willing to share conversations with several others. This is for BOTH men and women. Just call the number at the top of this column, if interested.)
I’m concerned about several things that so many people are not able to do anymore. Has anyone else noticed that lots of people can’t do cursive handwriting, can’t tell time on an analog clock, can’t count change back, can’t carry on conversations, and can’t tie shoes? Just concerned and wonder if anyone else is as well. You know how the saying goes, “Either you use it or you lose it.”
God is forever….listening, watching….and most of all…waiting for you to ask Him to forgive you and to save you.
