Iola Louise Prather | 93 | Medora

Iola Louise Prather, 93, of Medora, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, at home, surrounded by her family.
She was born on Sept. 19, 1931, in Brighton, the daughter of the late Herman and Susie (Eddington) Kahl.
Iola married Dale Prather on April 28, 1951, he preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 2005.
She worked for Southwestern School District as a cook for several years before retiring in 2005. She loved to garden and put on family gatherings with a wiener roast being her favorite gathering.
Iola is survived by six children, Michael Prather of Medora, Susan (David) Hagen of Medora, Donald Prather of Medora, Debra (Preston) Haynes, of Medora, Judy (Mark) Tharp of Greenfield, and Kevin Prather of Medora; five grandchildren, Matt Haynes, Kyle Tharp, Bryan (Kristie) Hagen, Jennifer Haynes, and Becky Haynes; five great grandchildren, Luke, Jake, and Ryan Haynes, Josie Hagen, and Syler Klimper; sister in law Betty Bennett; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five sisters, Arlene (John) Stampe, Lucille (Harris) Carr, Alice (Cliff) Randolph, Wilma (Gerald) Cox and Norma Kahl; brothers and sisters in law, Doris (Bill) Warner Lanam; Bertha (Melvin) Bennett, Pete (Ruth) Prather, Ronald (Barbara) Prather, Kerry (Kay) Prather; mother and father in law, Lester (Marie) Prather.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, at Kemper Cemetery.
