Pike County Fall Pickin’s is just over a week away! Hopefully we have some fall weather to get out and enjoy Oct. 17, 18 and 19.
Illini Community Hospital will host a food distribution today at the JWCC Southeast Education Center (39637 260Ave., Pittsfield) beginning at 2 p.m.. Food is first come, first served. This event is open to Pike County, residents only.
Pike County Cleanup Day is set for this Saturday, Oct. 11, from 8-11a.m. and is sponsored by GFL Environmental. Pike County residents will be allowed to drop off one car or pickup load of trash per household for free. Trailer loads are not permitted for dumping. Residents will be required to show ID for proof of residence in Pike County. Trash may be dropped off at the Hickory Ridge Landfill Facility (375 Street, Baylis). Unaccepted materials include hazardous waste, contaminated soils, asbestos, car/truck batteries, tree/brush cuttings, auto/pickup tires, electronic waste and appliances.
The Griggsville-Perry National Honor Society will be hosting its annual Volley for Hope event on Oct. 14 in Nichol Gymnasium. A basket raffle will be held with all proceeds going to the nominee(s) chosen to receive them. If you would like to donate a basket, please contact Mrs. Cindy Conkright and have the baskets at the school by today!!
GP-PTO will be hosting “Breakfast with a Boo!” Oct. 25 from 8:30 a.m.-11 a.m. in the Griggsville School cafeteria and gym. There will be a free-will donation pancake breakfast and bake sale located in the cafeteria. At 9:30 a.m, there will be a costume contest. Bounce houses, an obstacle course, free face painting, games, crafts for all! Don’t miss out on this fun event!
Congratulations to past Griggsville High School administrator, Mr. Tom Leahy, on being named the Illinois Association of School Administrators 2025 “Exemplary Service to Education Award” winner! Such a well-deserved honor.
