Robert ‘Red’ Wagner | 81 | Jerseyville

After a prolonged illness at Jerseyville Manor, we announce the passing of Robert “Red” Wagner of Brussels on Nov. 15, 2025.
Robert was born on Aug. 27, 1944, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alton. The son of Lewis and Rose (Telkamp) Wagner. He was one of four children, Paul Wagner, Virginia Wagner, and Vera (Eugene) Brink. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Rose (Telkamp) Wagner, and his sister Vera and his brothers-in-law, Eugene.
In his early years, Robert loved to hunt, fish, and garden. He worked at Olin Brass Mill, Labor’s Union 218, and Hamilton Security Inc. Later in life, he would play his banjo, listen to bluegrass music, and talk to friends on the phone.
Visitation was held at Gress, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Brussels on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Funeral mass was Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Brussels. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
