Carol Lou Moss, 89, of Hillsboro, passed away March 2, 2026, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hillsboro.
She was born in St. Joseph, MO, on April 28, 1936, to Frank and Lottie (Edmondson) Swope. She graduated with the Class of 1954 from Griggsville High School in Griggsville, IL.
She married Floyd Moss on June 13, 1954; he preceded her in death. She was employed as a bookkeeper and secretary in the insurance industry. She loved to read and study her Bible, solve Sodoku puzzles, and learn about history. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Nancy Ross Chapter, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro.
Carol is survived by: Her son, Edward Moss of Sioux Falls, SD; her daughter, Lisa Lister of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren, Christina Moss, David Moss, Christopher Dike, Katherine Dike, Jeffery Dike, Nicholas Lister, Nathaniel Lister and Natalie Howard and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Penny Dike; two brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Hillsboro on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Committal services will be at Gray Cemetery in New Salem, IL.
