Marjorie R. Cross | 87 | Quincy

Marjorie R. Cross, 87 of Quincy and formerly of New Canton passed peacefully Wednesday afternoon Feb. 11, 2026 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.She was born July 24, 1938 in Fairfield, Illinois the daughter of the late Herman and Lillie Moore Mayfield.
She married Robert Samuel Cross Oct. 14, 1965 in Springfield, Illinois and he preceded her in death Sept. 5, 2025. Also preceding her in death was her son, Kenneth Reever; daughter Carolyn Gilfoy; siblings, Mildred Fae, Betty Jane, Bobby Gene, Doris June, Jackie Ray, Clyde Mitchell, Mary Alice and Herman Jr.
Marjorie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She dedicated her life to caring for others. In her home and also as a CNA in nursing homes in Barry and Pittsfield for 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and being with her family and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield.
Surviving is her son, Larry (Jocelyn) Reever of Canton, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Robert E. Reever, Amy (Roger) Hutchinson, April Gibbons, Autumn (Mike) Reeves, Joseph Nelson, Alex Gilfoy, Zachary Reever and Justin Reever; nine great grandchildren, Joshua Reever, Emily Finnell, Madison Finnell, Mason Beahan, Jeremy Beahan, Kenady Debary, Mia Hutchinson, Wyatt Reeves and Jason Geisendorfer.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Griggsville Cemetery with Pastor Brent Joy officiating. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Chapel in Griggsville. Memorials can be made to the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
