Leta (Sevier) Schwallenstecker, 98, of Hamburg, passed away on July 1, 2024, in Jerseyville, IL.
Leta was born April 14, 1928, to William and Ione (Crader) Sevier in Hamburg. In 1946 she married the love of her life, Eddie Schwallenstecker. They enjoyed 65 years of married life. He spent 27 years in the U.S.A.F. they lived in Goldsboro, North Carolina and Mobile, Alabama and then retired to Hamburg in 1968. They built their own home in Hamburg and lived there for 40 years.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Janice); two grandchildren, Melissa (Ron) Blanco-Spillman and Michael (Rachel) Cress; seven great grandchildren, Kenny, Andrew, Alona and Tyler Blanco and Zoe, Zachariah and Zaylee Cress; two great great grandchildren, Sophia and Grayson Blanco; sister-in-law, Geneva Sevier; nieces, Pamela Sevier, Phylis Wooten and Patricia Hinkle; and nephew, Bruce Sevier.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Vernell (Marie), Howard, and Fred (Lorraine).
She enjoyed her loving church family at Prince Road Church of Christ in Godfrey.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Indian Creek Church of Christ in Hamburg, IL.
Burial followed at Indian Creek Cemetery.
