Celebrate the local tractor club this Saturday
“Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened.” Dr. Seuss
There is a good organization in our area that doesn’t get nearly enough recognition. The Western Illinois Tractor Club has been in existence since November 2002 which started in Chapin, Illinois, with 17 members. Now there are 90 members and fifteen counties in Missouri and Illinois represented. Several of the Club’s members live in Pike County with a couple of Pike County gentlemen being officers of the club. One of the main things that they do is take their tractors and meet in a specified location and all go for a “cruise” or a ride, and most of the time, these cruises are an all day event with many hours and miles driven and plenty of fun is had by all. The first cruise of the season is to be this Saturday and will be starting at the Western Illinois Fairgrounds in Griggsville.
The Pike County Senior Citizens Center at 220 West Adams Street in Pittsfield will be holding a fundraiser fish fry Thursday, May 11, from 4:30-6 p.m. The menu will be your choice of catfish fillet or buffalo with three set sides, plus, your choice of dessert. Eat in or carry out. All ages are welcome. The Pike County Senior Citizens Center thanks you for your continued support.
There will be a Ladies’ Day Salad Luncheon at the Senior Center in Pleasant Hill Monday, May 15, starting at 11:30 a.m.. All ladies are invited to attend. Please bring a salad to pass, and join in for a good meal and fellowship.
