Kampsville American Legion will hold their Annual Memorial Day Service beginning at 11 a.m. at Schumann Memorial Park. Lunch will be served at the Legion beginning at noon with chicken and mashed potatoes being provided. Side dishes, and desserts are welcome.
The Kampsville Kids Party Committee and the Village of Kampsville would like to recognize Ren Taul, James and Brooklyn Smith for choosing us to do their community service projects for their school year. At St. Norbert’s each class is required to do a certain number of hours of community service. Each one of these students went over their service hours and received medals. They not only assisted with setting up for all of the events., they worked at the events and they helped clean up the events. Ren Taul also helps to pick up the litter around town, especially at the town park. It is wonderful to have such good youth in our community who take pride and everything they do. Congratulations to St. Norbert’s 8th grade graduating class. Congratulations to American Legion Award winners Mae Zipprich and Charlee Burch.
The bring back of the Holler Hustle was held Saturday morning, beginning at the football field and taking us up
Poor Farm Hollow and back. The rain nor the lightning stopped it and it was actually a pretty awesome way to start a Saturday morning.
Cheri Burris was the guest of honor at a surprise party for her retirement after 37 years with Calhoun Unit 40. In her 37 years, she has served many different areas from teaching, to administration to coaching and so much more. Our school was blessed to have her and she made a difference in many lives and will be missed. I wish her the best of luck on her retirement and hope she enjoys spending time riding her horse.

Happy Birthday to Judge Burch on May 15, I’m pretty sure he got to celebrate his birthday as a proud dad as his daughter Charlee graduated from St. Norberts on his birthday.
Happy Anniversary to PJ and Heather Lorsbach on May 17.
Happy 50th Anniversary to our neighbors across the river Barry and Margaret Brannan they celebrated with a party in their honor at the Eldred American Legion on Sunday.
Happy birthday Shawn Holland on May 16. Happy birthday to my daughter Valerie and my grandson Carson who celebrated on May 17. They also share a birthday with me. I was pleasantly surprised with a party in my honor Sunday evening and it was one of the best birthdays I’ve ever had.
