Kampsville Legion Post 1083 hosted a luncheon on Saturday honoring Veterans and their families. Thank you to all our Veterans and we are especially grateful here in Kampsville for our Legion members and auxiliary who continue to give selflessly to our Village.
The Belleview Community Church hosted their 2nd Annual Operation Christmas Box Sunday evening in the Center for American Archeology Gym. What an amazing night it was. They served a delicious dinner and refreshments to all the volunteers and let me tell ya, there were many volunteers of all ages from little to old, and lots of teenagers. Definitely warmed my heart. This was my first year to help with this, but it certainly won’t be my last. My granddaughter Reagan also helped and I think we’re gonna make sure it’s an annual event for us. Over 600 boxes were filled in just an hour. If you missed it and you would like to help each of those boxes cost $10 to ship. Anyone wanting to donate some money toward this can drop it by the Bank of Kampsville to Angie Hayn. I personally want to give a huge thank you to Angie for inviting me. We are also very blessed to have the Center for American Archeology always letting us use that gym for anything needed for our community.
I’m already busy with my committee working on the 30th Annual Kids Christmas Party. It will be held December 17 in the Center for American Archeology Gym. We are working on our basket raffles currently at the Bank of Kampsville in Hardin. We have a Taylor Swift Basket on Raffle. The Hot Wheels Basket at the Bank of Kampsville in Kampsville. The raffle baskets are how we help pay for all of the presents for the kids as well as donations from some very generous people and businesses. The raffle baskets and items are also always a party favorite. Thank you Lisa Breden and Pete for your basket donation, thank you David and Cassie Francis for donating Scooters to be raffled. In addition to the ones that are donated the party committee also does quite a few. This year in honor of our 30th. We are going to have at least 30 baskets or items on raffle. Anyone wanting to donate a basket or money toward the gifts can reach out to Debby Klunk or myself. This party has always been a pretty big deal and it’s not just for the kids in Kampsville. It’s for all kids. Every child leaves there with a gift. Also, when the kids see Santa, they are given a bag of candy and an orange provided by Kampsville American Legion and Auxiliary. The Sons of the Legion always give money toward the gifts. We are so blessed for a small village to have so much generosity.
The final of the season Sons of the Legion Meat Shoot will be held this Sunday beginning at 1 pm behind the Pavilion.
No “Queen” was found at our Legion and it’s getting close to being found so get those tickets bought.
Please pray for our neighboring community of Pleasant Hill as the deal with a devastating loss and continue prayers for Kiera Sievers, Connor Gilman, Kurt Roth, Jerry Crader, Kathryn Chapman, Joe Gress, Raymond Sievers, Isabel McGlaughin, Joyce Blumenberg, Linda Herkert, Sue Aderton, Christene Schumann, Diane Rose, JoeAnne Feyerabend, Cassie Blackwell, Margie Smith and Bev Mosbarger.
