It is August with hot summer and cooler evenings, the summertime is passing, and the children are looking forward to vacation being over and school days approaching. We’re getting outdoors and are still enjoying the summer we still have.

Well this Saturday is the day. Kampsville Summer Celebration. Our awesome Legion guys will begin frying fish at Noon so stop down on the grounds and get yourself a hot fish sandwich. It was hot this week but changed over the weekend giving us the cooler weather from the heat and helped picnic goers enjoy the Meppen Picnic Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 2nd, and 3rd. After the 4 p.m. Mass, the picnic began at 5 p.m. with the traditional food favorites at St. Joseph’s Hall.

Sure can’t complain about the weather since our mid to upper 90’s heat wave finally came to an end last Wednesday. The last four days temperatures have been in the upper 70’s and low 80’s, a blessing for St. Joseph’s Picnic over the weekend. This nice weather continues for a few more days yet, but…

Kampsville Summer Celebration will be here before you know it August 16. The fun begins with the Parade at 3 p.m., lineup at the Marvin Richter Ball Field. This years Grand Marshalls are the very deserving Kampsville American Legion. Following the parade will be the Flag Raising and National Anthem.
