The quarterly dinner meeting of the Historical Society will be held Tuesday, Oct. 19 at the Old Fill Inn Restaurant in Batchtown. The Speaker for the evening will be Greg Franke of Batchtown who will present a paper he wrote entitled “Citizen Joe: A history of Joe W. Schmieder. Joe was a lifelong citizen of Hardin, a decorated WWII veteran. He was a devoted son to his mother Rose, catholic, a celebrated hunter and local fishing icon. In addition he journaled his fishing, hunting and personal stories for over 35 years., It is certain there will be plenty to hear about. Dinner will be buffet style and will begin at 6 p.m. Make sure to make dinner reservations no later than Sunday Oct. 17. Everyone is encouraged to attend and it is open to the public.
