The Hometown Christmas Committee of the Winchester Civic Group plus a few other volunteers spent Saturday morning braving the freezing cold to decorate the square in preparation for the Hometown Christmas celebration on Dec. 3.
Thousands upon thousands of lights are hung around the square in addition to the many displays. This year, something extra has been added. The very old decorations that the city used to hang on the light poles were sent off to have new sockets and bulbs put in and are now on display in the park. The decorations are almost 20 years old.

Even the young ones got in on the decorating Saturday morning. There was something for everyone to do when it came time to decorate the Winchester Square for Christmas and Payton Gieseke and Josie Coonrod were up to any task given them.

Perhaps the one task that no one wants when it comes to decorating for Christmas is the task of untangling the Christmas lights. Crystal Coonrod seems to have drawn the short end of the stick this year and was given this task Saturday morning during the decorating of the Winchester Square for Christmas.
