James ‘Jim’ F. Quigg | 89 | Jacksonville

James “Jim” F. Quigg, 89, of Jacksonville, IL, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 24, 1933, in Jacksonville, the son of Charles Frank and Lela Rexroat Quigg. He married Mary “Joan” Goodpasture on Jan. 4, 1953, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, Joan, Jim is survived by his children: Steve (wife Kelly) Quigg, of Jacksonville, Brenda (Jerry Morman) Quigg, of Springfield, Beverly (husband Glenn) White, of Jacksonville, Beth Clark, of Virginia, Becky (husband Matt) Woiwode, of New Berlin; grandchildren: Lexie (husband Dave) Hawkins, of Alabama, Matthew Clark, of Virginia, Garrett (wife Erin) White, of Pittsfield, Mary Beth (husband Jared) Williams, of Athens, Miranda (husband Taylor) Blakeley, of Jacksonville; great-grandchildren: Lexie Hawkins, Gibbson White, Emersyn White, Freddie Williams, Charlie Williams; several nieces and nephews; and his caring friends and care givers: Trudy Hayes and Lilly Oliver .
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Charles “Bill” Quigg, Baird Quigg, Henry Quigg, Albert Quigg, Rosemary Schone, and an infant sister: Helen Quigg.
Jim was a farmer, real estate broker, and business owner, operating Wade and Dowland Office Equipment, with his son, in Jacksonville for many years. He enjoyed friendship, Hardee’s group, dancing, antique tractor pulls, chocolate chip cookies, ice cream, garage sales, traveling, walking with neighbors, gardening, collecting typewriters, toys, and coins, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s ball games. He was a lifetime member of the Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau, and a devoted Christian. He was a member of the former Brooklyn Methodist Church and member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. Jim was also a proud United States Airforce Veteran, serving during the Korean War.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at Williamson Funeral Home. The family met with friends for visitation from 11 a.m., until the time of the service. Burial immediately followed the service at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family encourages those who attend wear red, white and blue in honor of Jim.
